What is Agriana? Jeff selected the name for it's literal meaning, "a collection of farming." Agriana is located in Tensas Parish, Louisiana. We have beautiful hardwood trees, sloughs (swampy areas), a man-made lake and scenic paths. We believe this area was once an old oxbow lake, as we have concentrated areas of underground sand as well as distinct high and low areas in a river shape.
The wildlife is abundant here. A list would include (but not be limited to!) deer, black bears, coyotes, bobcats, otters, beavers, opossums, armadillos, ducks, doves, buzzards, crows, other birds, snakes, fish, alligators . . . and 3 cats and a dog.
We hope to share our adventures here with you. We look forward to interacting with you through your comments and feedback. Thanks for reading.

All I can say is "Wow". My husband and I were lucky enough to get to spend a weekend there in December 2011. This place is so beautiful, full of natural beauty! You could get lost there looking at all the nature! The wildlife was incredible. There were critters everywhere! Karen and Jeff are very gracious host, they made us feel so at home. It was nice meeting new friends and connecting with old friends. I hope to return soon. I will even cook again for you guys, lol! Karen and Jeff are truly blessed to have Agriana, what more could you ask for! Its a piece of heaven on earth!

DeleteI'm looking forward to your blogs, Karen and Jeff. Thanks for sharing your life with us. I saw your mom today at the good old Post Office and she was so sweet. Post lots of pictures, you certainly have lots of 'material' to draw from. Hugs! Jeanie
ReplyDeleteHugs right back atcha!
DeleteHi Jeff and Karen!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to the postings and the pictures. LOVE Agriana and all the cleansing wildness that is there--one's soul is replenished with each visit.
Oh, and the rifle range is a hell of a lot of fun, too. Where else can I go and shoot out past 300 yards with no fear of disturbing anyone.
Incidentally, I just came back from a Ruger-sponsored trip to west Texas--northwest of San Antonio in the hill country, where they introduced a bunch of gun writers to their new Ruger American Rifle--we shot them out to ranges of 700 yards. The country is rugged and beautiful, and the rifle shoots like...well: www.theshootist.net
Best, and I hope to come blast coyotes soon!
Looking forward to seeing you SOON!
DeleteI love reading about your adventures, thanks for sharing! This brings home and y'all a bit closer for us. Just stay away from those bears, Karen Sue! Love, Sissy
